EASY DOES IT
POLICE PATROLS
Uniformed police officers will be carrying out regular patrols in the areas of the city where there is a lot of student accommodation.
They will also be out in force to ‘meet and greet’ students as they arrive in Nottingham and move into their new homes.
Helped by Police Community Support Officers and Community Protection Officers from Nottingham City Council they will be giving out crime prevention material and advice to new students.
Take advantage of free crime prevention advice when it is offered in your area.
FREE MAPS
Call in at your nearest police station and ask for your free copy of the ‘Easy’ Guide for Students in Nottingham.
It is a handy, credit card-sized map of the city centre, which also has loads of useful contacts and information.
IMMOBILISE CRIME
Log on to www.immobilise.com to register all your valuables free of charge. It will improve your chances of getting them back if they are lost or stolen.
Police forces throughout Britain have signed up to IMMOBILISE, which is the world’s largest free register of possessions and is completely secure.
It takes just a few minutes to protect your phone, laptop or any other mobile electronic equipment by registering them.
Police officers regularly check the Immobilise database to see if recovered property has been registered by the rightful owner.
If any of your registered property is stolen, report it to Immobilise via your online account. This information is then sent to all police forces. If your registered property is recovered the police will contact you.
Criminals are becoming wary of being caught with stolen property because they know it can be identified quickly through IMMOBILISE.
More than 300,000 people in Nottinghamshire have already registered their property. The more people who sign up the fewer easy pickings there will be for thieves.
